THiNGs I'm EXCIted For!

Okay, I know its been a minute since I have posted, but I'm posting now. Tonight I am going out with some friends for dinner and we are going to "Precious". I'm excited to go and see this movie. I wanted to read the book this movie is based off of prior to seeing the movie, but I am still waiting to get it from the library. I hope those 5 people in front of me hurry up with the book. I'm excited to see it though. It was released last week in limited release and now just opened here today in AZ. I can't wait to go see this!!! Here is the trailer if you haven't seen it before. The last and definitely not least thing I am excited for is this little guy to come! Thanks Jenn, I stole this picture from your facebook. He and his parents should be here in sunny AZ by Sunday. I can't wait to see him. I wonder if he remembers me or not. I mean I did spend a good three weeks with the kid from July to August. He needs to get here already!

VMA = WTF

I know I am late with this post but better late then never right!?! Here are the highlights or WTF moments that I enjoyed from the 2009 MTV VMA's: Blame it on the aaaaalcohol! See kids drinking a whole bottle of Hennesey on red carpet + not having a filter on your mouth = A douche bag moment. I'm really not surprised by Kanye West having an outburst like this. Don't you remember this moment? (Skip forward to 0:34 for the main event!) I'm not sayin but I'm just sayin! I love me some Lady Gaga. I love her music and don't mind that she hates to wear pants and would rather sport a leotard and tights with huge holes in them. That's just her thing. I was expecting the unexpected when I was watching her performance...or at least I thought I was. She comes out and I'm enjoying it...okay there is someone in a bedazzled wheelchair. That's different but okay. Alright she is sporting a bedazzled cane...still okay not sure if this is some sort of discreet shout out to physically handicapped people. Then oh what is that...is that...blood! Why is there blood? WTF...she is covered in blood and now she is rising into the air... ummmmm okay...I...ugh...I'm pretty sure I will have a nightmare tonight! I'm wondering how she came up with this idea. I can just imagine the conversation,"Yes, I would like to have my dancer wheeled out in a bedazzled wheel chair. Then I want a bedazzled cane/crutch handed to me. At the end I would also like to be bloody and raised into the air!" Here are here other outfits she wore that night: Wow, I have never seen anyone literally covered from head to toe in lace until now...aahh I can die happy. I think Lady Gaga should patent the face scarf before those stupid people that came up the Snuggie do. I was looking forward to Jay-Z and Alicia Key's performance all night. I love Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. He is my favorite rapper and she is one of my favorite female singers. I'm enjoying there performance of "Empire State of Mind" when all of a sudden at the end who...what...why is Lil' Mama on stage. She wasn't performing or had anything to do with the song so why is she up there on the stage with them? Oh, she just hopped on stage with them. All I have to say is that MTV needs to up there game when it comes to security. They don't even need to worry about crazed fans. They need to worry about the crazy artists/musicians that are in their audience.

BAck iN ThE DAy

I have been watching "Late Show With Jimmy Fallon" and I love how he has been trying to set up a reunion with the "Saved By The Bell" cast. I loved this show and embarrassingly enough I still enjoy it. Don't worry they play reruns on TBS and sometimes I DVR them. I know how lame am I? Especially since I have seen probably every episode before and some even multiple times. Here is one of the funny clips from the late show. That got me thinking though of all the other old shows that I used to like to watch. Crazy that you can now rent most of them now since they are on DVD. Here are some that I remembered liking. Just The Ten of Us This show was about a high school basketball coach that got a coaching job. He and his family had to move for his job. His children would also attend the school, but the school ended up being an all boys catholic school. The boys at school are really happy since he has four daughters and one son that join their student body. My Two Dads I loved this show. I am actually waiting to get this from Netflix to relive the good ole days. Out of This World This show was about a girl named Evie. She is half alien and half human. As she gets older her powers start to set in and she can stop and change time. She would talk to her dad through a glass cube. These are just a few old shows that I remember liking. I would love to know what old shows you enjoyed!

THinGs THat MaKE yoU GO hMmm...

The other day my mom and I went to get a pedicure. We were sitting there enjoying and relaxing our pedicures while these poor little Vietnamese women tried to hook our feet up. The lady doing my mom's pedicure looks up and says, "Oh you two famwee?" My mom replies, "Yes, she is my daughter." "Oh I tell sin you look like her," the lady states while pointing at me. Now if you look at this picture you see that I don't look anything like my mom. "She was actually adopted," my mom replied trying not to laugh in front of the lady. Then the lady tried to explain that it is probably just my mannerisms that make me look like my mom. Yes, that must be it. Way to try and redeem yourself! I seriously couldn't stop laughing once we got in the car.

R.I.P...My bELoVed G rIDe

See this beauty of a car!?! Well, I have loved my Acura Integra for the past 7 years or so and it has served me very well. She decided to leave me for good last week. I was enjoying not having payments, cheap registration, and pretty low insurance and now its all a memory. I was driving the other day and slowed down for a red light. The light turned green and I pushed on the gas to accelerate and nothing. Luckily I had enough momentum to pull to the side of the street, but I knew that my G Ride was no more. Here are some of the things that I will always remember about my ride: 1. Getting pulled over numerous times. Apparently white cars in beer runs, shootings, and robberies are common in Salt Lake City, UT. Or were the police just doing a little racial profiling? 2. Road trip to AZ alone and getting a flat tire out in the middle of an Indian Reservation. Some crazy Indian man coming out of nowhere putting my spare tire on and hopping in the passenger seat wanting me to take him to the nearest place for alcohol. 3. 1 drag queen, 3 Tongan guys, and 4 females cruising Salt Lake City. 4. Hitting a deer on trip from AZ to UT. I am still happy to this day that the only damage done was a broken windshield, passenger side window and rear view mirror, headlight and dented passenger side. I think the deer got the worst of it. 5. Having my driver side window shot out and a bullet hole in my rear view mirror. My car was a G! A real gangster that could handle hitting a deer and getting shot. I always said that I was going to drive you til' the wheels fall off!

CheCk Up ON iT

Beyonce was in town last week and some friends and I went to her concert. I had so much fun, but didn't get any pictures since my camera is broken. I took a few with my phone but they didn't turn out very good. Here is one. This is when she was performing "Baby Boy" and was coming down from the ceiling. Seriously, who thinks oh you know what would make this song really hot is if I came in from the ceiling. Crazy! I thought that she might end up lipsynching a lot of the show since she dances quite a bit. She didn't though. She sang a lot of stuff accapella and she can really sang! That was the day of the Michael Jackson memorial in LA and she was late because she went to it. At the end she sang "Halo" and had a picture of him in the background. It was really cool. Here is one of her latest videos "Sweet Dreams". Sorry some little commercial thing has to play before the video. She is tight!

LAteLy

I haven't really been up to much lately other then work. My life is still pretty boring. I have been watching SYTYCD. I don't really have a favorite dancer yet. I can't stand this dancer Phillip Chbeeb. I don't know what it is about him that irritates me about him...wait it's that I think he is ugly. I know how mean and looks shouldn't matter...whatever. He reminds of the teacher or Skeeter Valentine on the cartoon "Doug". Come on there is some resemblance?!? Mary drives me crazy too. I am convinced that she is drinking or smoking something prior to the start of the show. She has been a total wack-a-doo this season. Here is a clip I liked about her annoying screaming from the show "The Soup". On Friday I was just hanging around with my little brother Braden when I asked if he wanted to go and see the new Transformers movie. He said yes and then invited his friend to come along with us. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go then since I had been wanting to see "The Hangover". I decided I would go see Transformers and told Braden and bought my ticket. Next thing I know he and his friend ditched me. I was standing there like WTF just happened...ugh I got ditched by my 14 year old little brother! I then went and traded my ticket for "The Hangover". I won in the end because "The Hangover" was hilarious! It is by the same guys who did "Old School" which I loved. In the end I am glad that my little brother ditched me. I highly recommend it if you like movies similar to this. Don't get mad at me though if you are offended by it because it is rated R and with that comes the knowledge that there will be cursing and other offensive material. I know you are thinking why would you suggest this movie then. Well, I have a sick sense humor and like stuff like this and assume others do too! Crazy that Michael Jackson passed away. I have just been jamming out to his music all weekend long. One of my all time favorite songs of his is P.Y.T! He seriously made amazing music and music videos. He was a true entertainer.

I'm Baaack!

I know I actually posted. CRAZY! I don't think that I live a very interesting life, so that would explain why I haven't posted anything since ummm maybe March. I'm not making any promises that I will be faithfully updating, but who knows. Here is what I have been up to lately. I love sports and especially basketball so I have been enjoying watching the NBA Playoffs. I hope that Orlando beats LA. I have been hanging out with this cute little monster. Seriously she growls like a monster, but I have fun playing with her. (I stole this picture from Camille's blog) My friend Tiffany came out from UT to visit a few weeks ago. We both stayed at our friend Nasim's house. It was nice, relaxing, and fun to be together again. We had some good times the three of us. All weekend long we just hung out by the pool. They wanted to get some sun, but not me. I'm not trying to get any darker. Did I take pictures of our fun weekend? No, I forgot. I know BOOO for me. Oh well here is an old picture from back in the day of us. PSYCH...just kidding I forgot that my laptop is broken and it has all my pictures on it. The other thing that has consumed my life is me studying to take my insurance producer license exam. I am sick of studying and taking practice exams. I actually took my test tonight and I PASSED! Woot woot no more studying or practice exams for me! HOLLA

Photo Tag

PHOTO TAG 1. Go to your picture folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures. 2. Go to your 6th folder and then choose the 6th picture. 3. Post it on your blog and then tell the story that goes with the picture. 4. Tag other lucky people to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog telling them about it. This is a picture from the Aaradhna concert in UT a couple of years ago. I am with some of my best friends, Genae, Finau, and Kassie, in this picture! That day was kind of crazy as you can tell with all the little kids, but still was a lot of fun! I now tag whoever wants to do this tag.

Oh the WondERouS moNth of FebRUary!

We all know that February is the month of LOVE and it is also Black History Month. I decided that I would make this post a combo of Love and Black History. Love + Black History = Black People I Love. I know that "Black" isn't necessarily politically correct but I don't care because all the things that I see on TV call it Black History Month and not African American History Month. How could I not put Bob in this post? I love his music and feel that my feelings for him would best be described by the lyrics from Macka B in there song "Everybody Loves Bob Marley". It simply says that: Everybody loves Bob Marley. Everywhere I go its the same old story. Bob. People of all nations they love the rasta man vibrations. Enough said. Beres Hammond is another great and classic reggae artist. I listen to Bob and Beres (Yes, we are on a first name basis) all the time and continue to enjoy their amazing music. Okay, so I have a girl crush (which goes along with the love part of February) on Alicia Keys. I seriously love her music. I think that she is smart and seems so cool. I would love to hang out with her and just watch her create her music. I also really like that she is pretty, but not overly sexual and tries to let her music speak louder then her sexual appeal. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I know I have posted how I think that he is handsome and would love to have the opportunity to make a baby with him (stop judging me..its February the month of love and this a fantasy). He is half Black and I love or am infatuated by him, so I had to post him. Snoop Dogg. I am a huge fan of rap/hip hop music and I have recently rediscovered my CD of "Doggystyle". Plus who else would we have helped to make putting double zz's into words to help make you sound hip. Examples: Fo' shizzle dizzle. The "Doggystyle" CD is the shizz. See what would have all done without Snoop? Chappelle Show is a classic and should never be forgotten in my book. I loved this show and continue to love it since I have all the seasons on DVD. Man, I wish he didn't trip and stop the show. I guess he had his reasons, but damn Dave that show was funny. He helped give the world amazing stories that we would have never heard from Charlie Murphy. All I have to say is Rick James...Rick James. I couldn't just put these people and not really mention some people who actually helped to make the Civil Rights Movement happen. Malcolm X. I have done a lot of reports on him and think that what he went through and persevered is amazing. I didn't agree with all his ideas, but am definitely grateful for his efforts and those that he inspired to help make a change. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is probably the most notable Civil Rights leader in history. He too was amazing in insisting on a change that ALL people be given the same rights regardless of class, color, or creed. I have had the opportunity to visit his grave along with the museum in Atlanta dedicated to the Civil Rights Movement and named in his honor. It is truly what Black Americans had to endure. I know that there are many others who helped fight the fight and am so thankful that they did.

Inauguration

How could I not do a post about Inauguration. Honestly how it was constantly in the media and how I was constantly reminded that this is history. How now so many people are finally proud of this country. We can all get along and love each other and embrace each other. Not as different races but as the human race...blah blah blah. Don't get me wrong I know and realize what an amazing accomplishment this is and it definitely shows how our country has progressed. I just hate being told constantly that I have to watch and listen intently because this is history. I get that everyone is hyped and excited, but it was a little ridiculous. I feel like too many people are getting lost in the hype and assuming that now with Obama in office everything will be perfect. Almost like this is the second coming and he is the Messiah. That part scares me. Hopefully now people can start to come down from cloud nine and realize that its going to take awhile for things to get better. I was watching more for entertainment value then for history's sake...I know I am shallow. Aretha WTF(you can have the F stand for whatever you feel like. Personally I have my F stand for ... ahhh nevermind). When she saw that hat do you think she thought to herself oh this makes me look nice and put together kind of conservative. That has got to be the biggest bow I've ever seen. My favorite of all was the benediction given by Reverend Lowery. I couldn't help but laugh at what his prayer. The rhyming was superb. Here is the part of his prayer that made me laugh. Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.

BANANAS

Bananas...that is all I have to say about the Arizona Cardinals going to the Super Bowl. The Arizona Cardinals!?! Seriously am I in the twilight zone, did hell freeze over, or pigs grow wings? Don't get me wrong I like many other AZ folk are very excited that they are actually doing something, but I am seriously in a state of shock. I was a little torn with who to really cheer for in the game and really didn't care who eneded up going from the NFC to the Super Bowl. I have been a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles for a long time and was actually cheering for them to at least make the game interesting. I am glad that they decided to show up in the 2nd half and make a game of it. I feel bad for McNabb that he has to go back to Philadelphia and get ridiculed and picked apart. Oh well the Cardinals are headed to Tampa. I need to make it over to one of the casino's to put some money on the Cards. Hey, my money can't be doing any worse then it is now in this current economic turmoil. Bananas...the Arizona Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl.

Happy 2009

It has been a minute since I have posted anything, so I thought that I would get on and post something. This is nothing exciting or interesting, but I am looking forward to a great 2009! My holiday season was a lot of fun. It was a pretty quiet Christmas. I got to speak to my brother on the phone. He is currently serving a church mission in Portland, OR. My sister Jennica came down to visit in AZ with her husband and baby. We played a lot of games and just enjoyed being together. I hope that everyone has a great 2009!
